What Is CBD? | Why We Use CBD
Not really. Just CBD.
What is CBD?
Basically, it's an ingredient found in cannabis.
CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid (a compound found in cannabis). It's found in both the hemp plant and the marijuana plant. Usually, hemp plants have more CBD and marijuana plants have less CBD.
There are many cannabinoids in cannabis, and CBD is just one of them.
CBD is not something you get high from. That cannabinoid is called THC. Although CBD is found in both hemp and marijuana, hemp has negligible amounts of THC (less than 0.3%).
What part of the plant does CBD come from?
CBD can come from both the marijuana flower and the hemp flower. Ours comes from the hemp flower. Remember, both are part of the “cannabis” family of plants. Click here to learn the difference between hemp and marijuana.
How is CBD different than our hemp oil ingredient?
CBD comes from the hemp flower. Hemp oil comes from hemp seeds. They both have many health benefits. To read the health benefits of cannabis hemp oil click here.
Why do we use CBD in our products?
Because of the CBD benefits!
- CBD is an antioxidant.
- CBD is an anti-inflammatory. Meaning it helps combat inflammatory, both internal and external.
- CBD is an anti-convulsant. Studies have shown CBD to help suppress seizures.
- CBD is anti-tumoral/anti-cancer. In some students of documented studies, CBD has combated tumor and cancer cells.
- CBD is an anti-depressant. It combats anxiety and depression disorders.
How to use CBD?
You can absorb CBD by applying it to your skin in the form of transdermals. Reminder: a transdermal allows ingredients to bypass your dermis (skin) and get absorbed into your blood. If there's anything you want to slather on to your skin, it's CBD.
What does CBD do?
If you are really interested in learning why CBD is such a powerhouse ingredient, you need to get a better understanding of your own endocannabinoid system. We are all born with one, and it's revolutionary how CBD cannabinoids mimic our endocannabinoid system. To learn about how it all works, read our endocannabinoid system blog post.
Is CBD legal?
The CBD we use is legal in all 50 states because it comes from hemp, not marijuana.
While there is a tremendous amount of research currently out there, and even more being done, we are not suggesting CBD is a cure-all formulation. We advise everyone thinking about purchasing CBD products to do their own research as well.
